Hello again everyone It's been awhile but I'm back with a question. My heater doesn't blow out hot air I blew out the heater core with my air compressor going through the hoses on the firewall and got a little crap out but not a lot. What happens is if you don't turn the heater control switches on at all the temp gauge will move to normal operating temp and blow out a little warm air and then the temp gauge will drop to where the needle is barely above the white. I pulled the thermostat and tested it in boiling water and it opens and closes just fine. The one hose going into the firewall(heater core) gets hot and the other is cool. Any suggestions or is it the heater core. Thanks so much everyone |

Heater core sounds plugged to me. Buy a few feet of hose. Hook them up to the heater core from the firewall. Pour baking soda down a hose, then vinegar, then hold your hand over the same hose. Put the other hose over a bucket or something. The vinegar reacts with the baking soda and it pressurizes and will blow gunk out. You'll have to switch back and forth between the two hoses before it clears up. |

Your temperature gauge should not be dropping for any reason other than turning the car off. It should be pointed dead center at all times and conditions, 0° to 120°. I'm thinking your thermostat doesn't fit in there properly and water is going around it. |
