Cheapest MPG you can buy

So if you paid $1000 for your Geo Metro, assuming 50mpg, that would be $20/MPG. An interesting way of looking at things.

if you do it this way though it doesn't take into account that over time your fuel savings compared to previous/other cars will have paid off the car. i would look at it this way. if you paid 1000 for a 50 mpg geo and your previous car got Xmpg it will take Y amount of miles before the car has paid for itself.
that's how know it's going to take 45,000 miles on the motorcycle I bought to pay for itself in fuel. Not counting the increased tire cost.

Also, is this the wrong thread to suggest not using credit cards at all? And only going into debt for a house?

i use a credit card for every purchase i make. candy bars, gas, tires, video games, hotels. everything that i can charge i do. it's EXTREEEEEEMELY easy to keep on top of your debt. just don't spend more than you make in a month per month or more than you know you can pay off. then just sit back and watch your credit score march on up.

the only way to get into debt is if you:

1 spend more than you can pay and then don't make properly sized payments
2 don't take into account that there might be unexpected costs (accidents, sicknesses) and spend too close to your limit/monthly income
3 you are just plain irresponsible with your credit card

i'll admit, i have forgotten a few payments here and there, but my credit is still good (right around 700).

700 is god. get that to 720 thats considered "prime" and you can pretty much set the terms on your mortgage. should not be too hard to eek it up to 720.

640 is considered "poor" in the industry. I am 680 (that default dipped me a bit) it was worth it.

bogs? blah blah blah. if you don't like what I say don't read it.

USURY and insane "tax burden" on citizens is the REASON we are in so much trouble today. eliminate those two and most citizens could "ride out" hard times with proper preparation and community team work. Then when the elite screws things up "THEY" would have to deal with it for the most part. but because of the usury and effectively unlimited capacity to tax the people they can take all the reward and "pass the cost" onto us directly.

what you see happening today around you "IS THE RESULT" of that.

I know personally one person a dear friend. she is being TAXED out of her property. IE the government is trying to STEAL her property from her by "decreeing" it worth 10 times what its actually worth and trying to TAX her accordingly. She if fighting it but only partially successfully.

the system is flat out broken.

My objective is to try and educate enough people so they don't fall into the same traps. or at least not as badly.

believe it or not "I" am one of the lucky ones. I have a home I have a job I have a family.

fixed that for you.

It is a pretty well documented fact that you tend to spend more when you use a piece of plastic, (credit or debit) rather than cash. (I'm just pointing that out, and Google backs me up, I hardly ever carry cash)

although, it seems noting to me, that the only thing a credit rating gets you is more debt.

now back OT, if I can get the CRX going for under 600.00 dollars total, that would be 15$/MPG.

I have little concern for the vehicle fiance market. I DO completely resent the way we have allowed ourselves to be taxed as relates to property "value." We should fix that, I'm sure the how-to thread is around here somewhere.....

i say debt when i mean more money than you can pay back, in other words accumulating interest on debt. i meant to say that. and whoever said it was right 760-850 is excellent, 660-759 is good credit, 560-659 is fair credit, anything below 560 is poor. that's according not to me, but to equifax, the people who set one of your credit scores, so these ARE the CORRECT credit brackets.

anyway. back on topic for me.

the best mpg/cost that i have seen is my cousins 1970's vespa, paid 200 for it and is getting 50mpgs. he lives in Dhaka Bangladesh though, where prices for vehicles is lower.

hmm when I checked my brothers score (credit karma) he has a 645 and it says "poor" thats where I got the metric to call 645 poor. I guess they could use a different metric than equifax ?? no idea.

and johnathan. ever hear of taxes? ever hear of a medical emergency?

its VERY easy to get into "debt" without borrowing a penny.

It's VERY easy to avoid debt. nerys, ever hear of an emergency fund? You should never put an emergency on a credit card. The moment you do, you've just created a 2nd emergency. The one at hand you can't pay & the credit card bill you prob. won't be able to pay in a month. Establish an emergency fund for ANYTHING you may not foresee.

Don't like credit card rules? Don't play the game. Credit score is absolutely meaningless when you have cash.

Up front cost of $2,250 & lifetime average of 50.5 mpg puts me at $44.55/mpg.

:gp :gp :gp :gp :gp :gp :gp :gp .......Thank you!....Its really not that hard.

so your up front crash was $2250......its pretty much totaled with the door damage (-1000), you took horsepower away from it due to the xfi cam (-300). You put in a 3.79 that makes it sluggish in town (-500)......and I wont take into account that you live in Michigan which includes Motor City. Motor City means that your ran the piss out of your metro, but I wont use that against your car. So you would take $450? :lol :lol

This is not the problem, but as is usual, you have completely failed to understand. I don't like or dislike your statement in and of itself, and quite frankly could care less about your feelings about the credit system in the country.

As a moderator, not reading what you write is not one of the luxuries I have, but, making it completely disappear certainly is when it causes a problem.

Here is the actual problem.

Now, you can either start going back on topic on your own, and stop worrying about whether I like your posts, or I can put the thread back on topic. I'd much rather you do it, and I'm very sure you would rather do it as well since I can guarantee you won't like how I do it.

Understood. DO note please I rarely "take" the thread off topic. I reply to someone else who took it off topic.

ROFLOL I just did FreeCreditCheck & the free cost me bucks via Equifax.

I got my Little G free but it cost me about $500 to get it smogged & street legal.

I now have TWO pink slips!!!! One for little G & One for my Motorcycle! WAHOOOTY!!

Now as for MPG I think my Victory aka FSHUZ (after Sid Vicious since my real name is Sydney) is still getting better mileage than LittleG. FSHUZ gets about 45 and so far Little G is getting about 35.

I don't drive G very much, just 2 or 3 miles at a time so that could be part of it.

Haven't really looked into much of the mechanics yet but even so seems like it should be doing better.

NOT freedrecitcheck

THIS URL is the official url

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/

it costs absolutely NOTHING. you get 1 report from EACH of all 3 providers once per year

you can also get it under other conditions such as losing a job or going to school or looking for work or being denied credit.

Go their DO IT. every year. make sure you save a pdf or html save of the documents since you usually only get one shot or 30 day access

NO PAYMENT INFO IS ASKED OF YOU EVER (as long as you don't as for a score)

THIS is the site to get your "scores" including your auto insurance score

http://www.creditkarma.com/

again FREE no payment info is asked of you. they have plenty of things you "CAN" pay for but to just get your scores just the numbers its 100% free.
