I'd have to be making bank for anything over an hour commute.

It took me 4 months to secure my job and it is a one way 57 mile commute which is about 1 hour 5 minutes. Sucks, but I listen to audio books to pass the time. I fill up every 5 days. I could have possibly found a job closer, but not using my degree or making nearly as much as I do now. Thankfully I really like my job. Makes a huge difference.

I can certainly relate to the article. I'm in the Richmond, VA area and was looking for jobs all over the country when the company I worked for folded 3 years ago. Currently have a 45 minute commute when all goes well. I work with some "super commuters" who pretty well fit the description laid out in the article.

I live in Imperial Beach and commute to Escondido every day! That's around 41 miles each way so 82 miles total plus round the town excursions! Too much for me :beer

I would say the vast majority of the workers here at the Hyundai plant live outside of Montgomery. Know of a few that live 2 hours away!

Stuff like this is the sole reason why I purchased my car... 54 miles from home to work... at least it's only every other day (for the time being, that could change soon). Heck when I first moved down here, I had 91-mile drive, twice a day 5-days a week. At least back then it was in a VW GTI with sub-$2 gasoline

Freaky. my commute is also exactly 54 miles one way but not freeway 1 hour 30 minutes (I drive slow) 1 hour 20 minutes if I crank it.
