I hate that technology is outdated so fast. Seems like just yesterday Core 2 Due was the newest/best thing. What did the build set you back? |

Its actually gets 35fps on Crisis, 29 on fable 3, Half life gets 38, and he plays WoW and gets almost 65. All this is during combat/action. So not bad 30fps is like watching a movie. anything more is gold. Your right after 6 months your brand new system is now old, shoot sometimes even 3 months. It was a total of about 600. i got the CPU for 100$ less from bidding on eBay, same with the VGA got that for 60 less. it also has Windows 7 ultimate, and HDMI port to connect to to the TV. I think it did pretty dang well. Only thing i OC'ed was the CPU FSB. those CPU's have been to 4.3ghz with water cooling and run perfect just like that for 2-3yrs. but i didn't want to do that. A little much for him haha |

I know what you mean about stuff getting out dated. I went to buy some 5 1/4 floppies and the smartass said he did not have any. I found this in a closet. Still works wow!!

I have another disk drive, a lots of software and a Commodore 803 printer, all the cables and 2 more sets of joy sticks plus 2 books that came with them. I was amazed that it all still worked.. That was the cutting edge back then. LOL Now your watch can do more that all that stuff. |

Damn JJ22 do you do that for a living? could be a good money maker. Do you know virus stuff too? or can you just build. My good friend built one all fancy. It was mainly for games and he can do 89,343 different things on it and it doesn't seem to slow it down. (I may be exaggerating a little bit.) One of these days I'm going to add 2 gigs of ram to my laptop. its a toshiba dinosaur. Only has 5xx migs and the most it can hold is 2 gigs so might as well....its cheap anyways. You do web development stuff too? (I would like to get into/ or atleast know more about building computers, but there isn't enough time in the day) |

No, you can still make the Commodore do more than the watch, in most cases

I have an osborne in my dad's shed, and a Sinclair ZX80 in the attic. The ZX80 was my first 'personal' computer. Put it together from a kit for $99. This model preceded the ZX81 when Timex got involved. In mid Jan I put an AMD E350 system together. Mini ATX motherboard, 4GB ram, 250GB notebook HD, Win7 Home Prem. 17 watts power consumption at idle, 26 watts fully loaded. Been needing a low power PC to leave on 24/7 and this fits the bill by not killing my electricity bill. |

I do it on the side mainly. Yea i do know about viruses and some free programs that do a good job of cleaning also. Yea that rig can do a lot all at once. but higher end ones like your friends can do quiet a bit on 3-4 monitors and not even sweat. lol going from 512mb to 2gig is a giant jump for ram, it would be a drastic change. as long as all the other components are working well also. Web development isn't my cup of tea, i wouldn't mind learning at some point. but been told HTML is a pain in the ass. building a computer is actually more simple than you think. Just gotta make sure things are compatible, Ive been building since i was 12, so 13yrs is a long time haha. ive fried my share of motherboards too. lol! if you need any help feel free to ask, i like helping |
