So my metro experience has been ongoing for about 2 years now. My parents bought a 96 3/5 about 3 years ago. I was not a fan of the body style but loved the mileage. My wife was driving our family vehicle to and from work 130 mi a day. Its a 2004 honda pilot. Gas was killing us. SO she started driving my 2008 Honda Civic Si. It was getting about the mid 20's MPG but required premium fuel. My parents found me a 92 vert auto for 750. It had a burnt valve but after installing a new head compression was 195 accross the board. Well soon after one of my daughters started driving. And she wanted the vert. So I sold my Civic, I got my wife a 91 3/5. Paint sucked but this old lady owned it and it only had 120k. It wasn't maintained all that well. So i reworked the head and lifters. New seals and rings. Compression was 205 accross the board after the rebuild. Bought myself a nice 89 3/5 that was modified heavily. Sway bars front and rear. 14mm studs with 15 inch aluminum wheels. Full roll cage and NOs. So with my left over cash I purchased a turbo intake, Megasquirt, and a SC14 supercharger. The plans were to run 75mm turbo pistons and configure it similar to a turbo setup. Just incase i wanted to go turbo instead. Well that project has been on hold since then (over a year now) Soon after my other daughter started driving. Picked her up a 91 vert auto. Other than paint, rocker rot, and a new top she was in good shape. After i got that one on the road I went back to my wifes. New struts. I had a good 2 weeks of geo freedom. The next week my daughter with the 91 called me ans said the car just died on the expressway. Towed her home and this is what it found.

This past weekend i got the engine back together

On tuesday she called again. She was driving her sisters 92 vert and it was overheating. Blown head gasket. I replaced it yesterday and
and as i was installing the new felpro head bolts number 5 snapped off. Since i had no time to order new stuff i went back and got another
head gasket and some more of those "high quality felpro bolts". This time it was a success. Only tool 5 minutes to extract the broken bolt.
chased all the holes in the block and she torqued down nicely. She called this morning and the car lost power on the expressway again.
So as i was preparing to post it for sale on craigslist my dad found her broke down. He popped the hood and found one of the plug wires
came off the distributor. So I think I'll keep it. Sorry about the image sizes. Im going to have to change them

Wow, that is one mighty clean engine! Sounds like you've done all you can do, so hopefully you'll have many miles of uninterupted driving. How about some pics of the cars?

I do paint myself. Still a work in progress. It's tough without a climate controlled area. My garage works pretty good but I have run into problems with paint flowing out smooth. The temp can be 70 when I start and 90 towards the end so I run into orange peel a lot. As far as the red one goes it was a 4 cylinder automatic. I picked her up for 300. The owner had a bad smoking issue. It went thru a quart and half in the 35 mile drive home. The compression was 186 across the board. All I did was pour some MMO into the cylinders and let her soak for 36 hours. The smoke was 90% gone instantly. After another oil change with some MMO added she burnt no more oil. Of course all that oil burning killed the cat. It was my daughters but she wanted a vert. So I sold it for 1200. Gave her the vert and bought my wife the 91 3/5 for 900.
