2001 Suzuki Swift; First it was my friend's; now it's mine.

So my friend's dad and I managed to pick this car up for her today...
Obviously it was in an accident, which is why it was at the junkyard.
Salvage title.
But it runs, drives straight, and was only... $1000?! :rocker

4 Cylinder! Woot! (Well, ok, she wanted a 3? But her desire for an automatic was stronger)

Posted Image
The car from a ways back. Can't see the damage from here!

Posted Image
Oh god, you CAN see it from here.

Posted Image
Little ding. Eh. Drip in the bucket, at this point.

Posted Image
The mirror fell off... of course. Longer screws, here I come!

Posted Image
I don't know why the hatch looks like that. It looks cracked open, right? It's shut! Something's bent, I guess.

Posted Image
STICKERS, WHY?! (Think they contributed to the accident? I wouldn't be surprised!)

Posted Image
MORE stickers?!

Posted Image
WTF is this nonsense on the window?

Posted Image
2000?! You lie! It's a 2001!

Posted Image
Uh, er, what interesting scribbles.

Posted Image
...XM Radio antenna?

Posted Image
...but a tape deck?

Posted Image
Seats don't look too bad, though.

Needs: fender, headlight, windshield, maybe some tires? I need to examine the tread, and a good cleaning.

I traced the wire from the XM antenna for a ways, if its fake they went to a LOT of trouble. The tape deck surely isn't XM but there IS a weird mount for something unknown stuck on the center thing in front of shifter. Or, they had a nicer stereo in, and put factory one back in when they junked it.

Stupid question, stereo wiring harness thingy in a Swift is identical to that of a Metro... right? I mean I could go undo the screws, pull out the stereo and look, but... it's dark out there!

Year for year yes. If I were to assume 98+ will be the same

Hm. So a stereo that's got the plug for a 97 may well not match? Damn, but that's ok, I can wire stereos if it comes to that.

Broken! :(

Fixed! With the power of SHINY!

New fender, from same donor car. "Body parts from a Metro won't fit a Swift", my ass!

Well if the little plug thingy is the same from a 97 Metro to a 2001 Swift, I don't need one at all...
I'm taking the CD player outta the green one and stuffing it into the Swift.
And I know the wiring on that CD player is right... NOW... because I did it myself. (It was done with wire nuts before, WTF)
And then I'll put the tape deck from the Swift into my car.
Fancy sound, no. But hey, I have a tape-to-aux adapter, and a collection of tapes already! (Pathfinder has only got a tape deck, too.)
Also, WTF, Scoobs. 35?! You get some really sweet price on those, or...? Obsessive compulsive IT SAYS FOR METRO BUY IT!!!!!!!

Well, I'll keep you in mind if my stereo needs some help, but I'm hoping it'll just be a direct swap.
