I love grilled cheese, ham n cheese, but i hate when the butter is a little cold and it tears the bread when trying to spread it.
.
NEW TRICK....use Mayo! shizam! I'll never go back to butter. not that i care, but probably less fat and cal's too.
.
had to share this.

I sprinkle some garlic powder on it.

I don't bother spreading the butter on the bread. I just put on 2 pats and drop on the hot griddle. Then, I spin it around on the pan so the warm melted butter spreads itself as the sandwich is grilled. Put on 2 more pats, then flip and spin again.

Use mayo instead of butter to spread on the bread! you know how butter gets cold and hard to spread then recks the bread. I know it sounds weird, thats what i thought too, dont think i'll ever go back to butter! You know that ol saying; once you go mayo, you'll never go back!
.
damn you for postn that pic! Dont have the Gruyere, think smokey swiss will work? see ya, gotta go to the kitchen!

I'm making Daube provençale as I type. A bit of top sirloin, onion, mushrooms, carrots, in a red-wine broth sauce, boiled down and poured over slightly fried slices of beef.

I'll post pics if I remember to take some tonight!
