Can anybody tell me why these cars have an issue with snaping the water pump belt at an excessive rate. I have owned probably 15 metros in my day, and about half of them like to snap the belt. By the way, Going to go buy Grandma's 92 metro 4 door automatic(booooo) with only 48,600 on it today!

Lucky you on the low mileage 4DR. Haven't had that problem on the belts, just squeaking from the cheap ones.

Did you buy the S&M model? Those are known for it.

From the cheap ones? are you talking about cheap belts? or just cheap cars? Do you think 3000 is too much to pay for that car in mint condition?

I'd say 3k was too much, but I'm a cheap ass.

Make sure your pulleys are aligned, in good condition, and spin freely.

Squeaking on the cheap belts. 3k for a Metro is not what I would pay because I could refurbish one completely for less than that and know what I have. A well taken care of one in mint condition with low mileage I could easily see bring that price. It's all realtive to what you are will to pay for any car in any given condition.
