I live in California, you blow a tire and then you run for it! The shoulders are so small you'd think they belong to a super model. And courtesy, forget about it...just call a tow truck

Its not "common" anymore. Some people just don't care no matter what the situation is. Its sad, but glad i have them, driving in the far right lane when driving slow, getting over if someone is on the side of the road, or pulled over. Shoot even stop if it seems they are without a jack or something. We can rename it "rare" sense. lol |

I have been helped a few times when stranded and I have to say those folks were a Godsend. If I think I can help in some way I'll usually evaluate a situation before I actually stop but I do make the effort. I don't just pull over and get out automatically though.... Too many horror stories out there but if the area looks to be all clear, nothing threatening I stop. Now hitchhikers are another story altogether....

I Remember When I Had My Distributor Split In Half On Me In My '90 4Dr. On US 97 N/B After Shaniko Oregon Headed Towards Biggs And I-84, I Had A Nice Lady In A '70s Datsun King Cab Pickup Give Me A Lift Back To Shaniko. Things Like That Go A Long Way. When I Drove Big Truck For Werner Enterprises I Gave A Lady A Lift Into Anaconda Montana When Her Ford Tempo Broke Down. When I Threw My Timing Belt In Arizona Just Last July, I Had I Guy Stop And Give Me A Bottled Water While I Was Waiting For The Tow Truck. As With AaronVincent, I Too Live In The Disposable Throwaway State. Nowadays, As With Courtesy FORGET IT!! We Live In A SILVERADO Society And It's All About Them. As For Who's Area Is The Worst, Hell, I'll Take Imperial Beach To SCUM ENCINO/SFV Any Day!

In central Idaho we have large signs posted on the shoulder to remind people that it's the law to slow down and move over when passing a police or emergency vehicle on the side of the road. Shouldn't have to do that but they do.
