Just thought I'd check in. Being (basically) from the neighborhood, I'm familiar with the area where JM lurks and works. I even played a few gigs in them-there-parts in by-gone days when he was just a toddler. It's nice that people are restoring and preserving these cars for their own pleasure and for history. I'm lovin' driving my unique little sports car. I'm planning to begin work on both of my metros when the weather decides to stay warm. My avitar (my little pony) is my other high-mpg conveyance. This is a shot of the '98. Bought it for a grand, put four new tires on it and an oil pan gasket. Needs rocker panel work. It's my daily driver. My other one is a white '97. Bought it for $800. Has decent tires, has some rod noise when you step on the gas from an idle (who knows, it could go another 50K without throwing one) and, of course, it has rocker panel issues. It's road-worthy (drove it home with an OH temp plate with no issues at all), but I haven't registered it, and I have no picures of it as yet. Gas buddy predicts $5.00/gal for regular by memorial day. Who knows what it's going to be after that. Peak oil and global "climate change" (to use the current politically correct term). No lies man. Those who dispute both amaze me. It's like someone watching a boat sink with their own eyes while maintaining all the while that the boat is not really sinking... and will STOP sinking all by itself sooner or later. Ah, well, that's a whole other subject for a whole other type of website. I'm having a blast with these things and probably like most, if not all, of you, I think it's a shame that they quit making them! But, after a moment's reflection, I have to say that the fact that they quit making them makes them all that more special.

"They" say that every year at this time. Last year gas went down throughout May, by Memorial Day it was at a low. Pure speculation, much like the weatherman. Lots of folks have had problems with an oil pan gasket, it can cause the crank sensor to fail. Oh yeah, Welcome! |

Thanks for the welcome. Thanks for the 4m Johnny and Bogs. Woodie, I read "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged" a few decades ago. Hartstown?!!! Wobblybob, I lived in the Greenville area for 53 years and moved 30 miles south to NC, PA 5 years ago. I've had a bunch of good times in the Hartstown area. I actually jogged non-stop from Main St. Greenville to the light in Hartstown (and back) 8 years ago. It was a push past my limits and I spent the next week-and-a-half getting excrutiating shin splints to stop screaming at me. How are your initial mods holding up? I was impressed when I read what those simple steps did to the mpg. Do you let the car breathe in the summer or do you keep the front end closed off? Beautiful machines guys. It's my day off, it's only 10:11 a.m. here and it's 51*. Gotta get a bath and get my pony out for a ride. Looking forward to rubbing elbows with all of you here and very possibly at the big event in the fall. Thanks again. Edited by mpgfanatic, Mar 7 2012, 11:14 AM.
