Just got done with a three hour drive, was starting to get really tired I could have pulled over and slept - I did that last night on a similar marathon drive, and spent several hours snoozing on the side of the road (middle of no-where btw) however... being so close to home I wanted to just. get. home. sooooo.. I CRANKED the cold air up and aimed the air grills right up my sleeves....BOY that woke me up! No need for the air conditioner - outside conditions were mid-thirties max already. I couldn't feel anything really worth a damn as my I was already numb from being tired, but the COLD shock sensation did come through and got my attention enough to get me through that last bit. I find the best thing for me is to stop and walk a few circles around the car. Stretch and all. Always have a bunch of drinks in the car. Pop open a pepsi or something. |

this is actually a policy in schools in texas. i was told by one of the teachers i was close with in middle school that they would turn the ac down to max cold in classes that had low grades to get the children to stay more awake and focused. |

Last time i drove far, after 6-7hours i stopped and ran paces around the rest stop. a Simple light jog can last 2-3hours of energy. Glad you got home safely tho! Edited by Jimmyjamx22, Mar 7 2012, 01:13 AM.

The cold in school had the opposite effect on me. I'd huddle up and hibernate. |

Cold has the hibernation effect on me as well. I've found chewing gum works well as long as I keep chewing that is.

I've tried a everything mentioned and just gave up. If I really need to sleep and some caffeine isn't doing it then I will find a way to take a nap. Resistance is futile.

careful man bad things can happen SOOO fast when your tired. always keep something to drink and some caffeine tabs in the car (stay awake vivrin etc..) $2 or $3 and will last you months if not a year. SOO SOO dangerous. I do a massive number of miles and being tired is by far the highest risk you can fast because it can come on "FAST" and almost without warning. be sure to learn "your signs" for falling asleep and NIP IT before it happens not after the first time you drift and maybe kill yourself or someone else. |

While the irritation of having to go to the bathroom after coffee may keep you awake, if you want a quick, convenient, pick-me-up then take a few Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans.

I've heard those have a very special pick-me-up capability It seems like keeping a couple of those caffeine tablets in the glove box might be the easiest way to do it. Instant, liquidless and easy. I prefer my caffeine intake with a certain hot beverage, but sometimes while tired a quick hit's soooo much easier. Edited by maxmpg, Mar 7 2012, 11:50 PM.

So when I'm on my trips I keep a box of cheerios in the car in when I get tired I take 1 cheerio out the box 1 at a time when i get tired I do this repeatedly over and over and it does the trick every time.what I'm thinking it keeps ur mind and body busy so u won't feel so drained. So get that box of Honey Nut Cheerios are the plane kind. Let me know how it works. |
