Buying my first Geo Metro today. Here's the link to the CL ad: 1996 Geo Metro And here's a YT video of it running and a walk-around: 1996 Geo Metro I went and took a look at it this morning. Fairly clean. Not much rust on the rockers or body. Driver's side frame horn is pretty rusted, but I feel confident that I can repair it with some scrap steel and welding prowess. Drives really clean. I ended up talking the guy down to $1400. Mechanically it is as straight as any used car I've ever purchased. I'll be a regular on the site. METRO FTW! TheFearedBeard |

Welcome aboard! Looks pretty good. I do see an oilpan gasket in the picture - you may want to consider removing it if it was used in the rebuild (There have been problems with the gasket interfering with the crank position sensor) and replace it with just rtv. Good Luck! |

What symptoms would be displayed by such a problem? How difficult would the removal of the gasket be? |

Welcome from a fellow newb as well. I don't have a Geo yet myself, but I did see this one (ad wise) and was tempted but would have been a decent road trip for me. Looks nice! Good luck with it. |

It will stop running. Could be they didn't put it on, just had it laid out in the photo. Look closely where the big black pan on the bottom bolts to the engine block with about 15 tiny bolts. You should be able to tell if there's a gasket in there, or just rubbery sealant oozing out. Since it's working now, you might just want to ignore it and hope for the best. Could be it's thin enough to get away with it. |
