Not sure cows are actually that smart but the warning about open range country is a valid one. If you hit a cow on open range you will first have to sruvive the impact, then it will be deemed your fault regardless of the circumstances and finally you will have just bought yourself a cow! Did mention how it seems that all hit cows suddenly turn into prized breeding stock and their value goes WAY up??? |

Might find yourself on the losing end if you "hit and run that thing"... http://equinelaw.alisonrowe.com/2011/06/articles/livestock-laws/open-range-counties-in-texas/ http://www.tscra.org/theft-law/livestock-laws.html |

First of all, congratulations on risking and surviving a potential tire blowout and rolling a Geo Metro at 100mph. I guess there's a little bit of daredevil in all of us. Secondly, are you driving a Geo to test the range of mpgs at different speeds, or did you just want to see how fast it would go out of your own curiosity? It's an 3-speed automatic, not a 5-speed standard, so taking it over 65 mph on a consistent basis will be a huge gas eater. They were initially EPA rated 30-34 but Consumer Guide observed something closer to 25. That being said, hypermilers in cars like yours have been known to exceed 50mpgs. I know you don't cruise at 100mph all the time, but it sounds like you've got a bit of a lead foot, so fuel efficiency should be the last thing you complain about. Was there a chick in the passenger seat you were trying to impress? A Mustang in the lane next to you whose driver winked in disapproval? Or just an insatiable craving to see just how fast a Mountain Dew can with wheels will go?? In your case, now you know.....100mph. Most of us drive Metros for fuel efficiency. Some are fanatic about it and hypermile, strip unnecessary weight like spare tires and back seats, and remove side mirrors and add wheel well covers. Still others drive them as normal and get mpgs somewhere in the range of adjusted EPA standards. Still others like the turbo feature and take them out to the track and run 15s. You can drive yours however you wish. But complaints regarding poor mpgs get a little tired when one never takes the steps to improve them. In my humble opinion. |
