Hey guys, I went to replace the knuckle on my 1993 geo metro vert so I purchased a part on ebay. The part was from a 1992 vert so I figured all was well. Well not so.....

Here is the picture comparing my original knuckle (left) and the replacement part (right). So it is a no-go for me in the replacement part of this ordeal and I'll have to find another - anyone got one? :)

Regardless, what car did the knuckle on the right come from? Any ideas?

is the one an aftermarket or out side US production? it looks like if you aligned the rotation, and account for the rotor, it might work? the bump stop and backer look different, but? i like the black paint on the rotor.

Somebody changed the brakes over to the larger sized knuckles, rotors, etc from later model maybe? Bqcking plates are different, brake caliper bracket looks larger, knuckle looks taller too.

yours looks like a newer style hub...the one pictured below is off of a 2000....similar in appearance to the right one in your picture.

i dont think your replacement is from a 92...ill bet 1997-2000

In your picture the one on the left (which is what you have now) looks like it is made to take a bigger diameter axle than the one you bought. I wonder if someone didn't put on the Swift GT front brakes on your vert. The Gt takes a special axle.

Take the pictures one at a time. The angle of the photo of the right knuckle is making it look different but I'm not so sure.

91Ragtop - the left knuckle, the hub is removed. That's why it looks like it takes a larger cv joint.

The only thing I can tell for sure is the inner grease seal is different between the two but that's about it given the photo.

Isn't the lump I circled only found on the newer knuckles?

after i had a chance to look through a bunch of parts, i am certian that the one on the right is from a 95 or newer. i came to this because the 'ears' where the caliper mount bolt on are machined for fit. have you determined if the vert is different from the standard?

Got 70 MPG?

The Bump is for the ABS speed sensor found only on LSi models.
