What kind of engine is that in the small white car?
It is a BP 1.8 L out of a 94 Mazda Protege.

Being that the Festiva is composed of Mazda components it makes the Mazda B series engines a pretty straightforward swap. Although, the BP swap is one of the more difficult there is a 1.6L engine swap that is basically a direct swap with very little mpg damage and about 30ish hp increase.

Even with twice the HP I average 38mpg - (44 highway 35 in town) Which is pretty dang good and it is a blast to drive.

My other festiva I average 45mpg- 43 in town 50 interstate but I have a 4 speed (po swapped it in for some odd reason) which has hindered my mpg.
PMing you now.

I agree with JM. The rims & tires are worth $300. You could strip it for parts or whatever. The others do have very valid points tho. Could be ragged out. If it was a hatch,, I'd be right on it.

Very hard to say "what you should do vs. what would I do faced with that choice. I have that model car already, for me it would be a no brainer at $300. just in parts value, even though mine is a 5 spd. and not an auto.

Even if I didn't have a sedan, as others have pointed out there is enough to swap out that is worth the investment price it is worth picking up (engine to have rebuilt and standing by 'jic', suspension parts , etc) to make it worth the cost.

There are other considerations though, do you have the room to store all that? Sometimes family members can get touchy about you starting to squirrel parts :lol although I'm sure you know whether thats a problem or not already :lol and other pros and cons should be considered up front.

Good luck whatever road you decide.

Ultimately I decided against it. I am in the market for another car for my younger brother but this one wasn't going to work. I would probably just end up flipping it and I don't really have the time right now so I decided not to pursue this one. Sooo someday I will be back! Hopefully with a 2/4 door hatch 1.0!
