Has anyone used this product to reduce the noise from outside? EZ COOL INSULATION similar to DYNAMAT but less expensive. I have never used anything like this. Does it really help with cutting out some of the noise? Annabanna |

It seems that when you get enough sound deadening down to notice a difference the car weighs more and gets less mpg. Harder to pull the hills. I like to add bigger and more amps to compensate for the roadnoise, but thats just my opinion. I had a lot of dynamat in my 96contacts 3/5, and i found what was more critical than what kind or how much, was WHERE you stick it. If you want bang for your buck, put what you can afford in the middle of you panels and don't bother with the floors till last if ever. |

Lizard skin is the lightest sound spray application that I know of. The stuff is high tech and fire retant. I used summation b4 and yes it extremely heavy. Look lizard skin up and read up on it |

Looks pretty nice. I"ll bet it would look better than mat for a nice looking install. You could lay it on heavy where you need it and the "blend" it out on the edges then paint it for a stealth look... |

You got beats in your metro? I am pretty new here and am not sure how to find pictures of your ride. I have a thread going in the projects section titled 1999 metro if you are into metro audio. I think we have to abandon ideas of mpg when outfitting one of these with a big audio system. They are still metros , so the major fuel savings still happens. |

Has anyone tried the Flex Seal stuff for the sound dampening in your Geos? Thinking about it for myself. far cheaper and easier to use than the Lizard Skin. Also heard that a tube of liquid nails and carpet padding would work, any truth to that? |

for my doors I used window peel and seal on the inside of the outer shell. then I made covers out of galvanized roof flashing for all the access holes in the inner shell and used sheet metal screws to hold them in place. after the covers were in place I then used roofing peel and seal and coated the inside of the door and then put it all back together. worked great. the window peel and seal is half as thick as the roofing peel and seal so it is easier to work in curved and hard to get at spots. the peel and seal(s) and galvanized flashing can be found in the roofing department at Lowes hardware. one roll of each for a total of about $25 EDIT: for my floor I removed everything covered the floor with the above roof seal, then put 1/2 felt carpet pad down with the window seal and put all back in Edited by Old Man, Jan 15 2013, 04:10 PM.

Spend some time reading through this site: http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi It seems to be the current state of the art for sound deadening/dampening. You don't need full coverage for resonance dampening. Many people recommend a combination of neoprene and mass loaded vinyl for sound deadening, after some dampening. Edit: I too am using limited peal and seal followed by generic neoprene (probably 1/8") and MLV (1/8") Edited by bkgeig, Jan 15 2013, 04:54 PM.

This might help someone - my peel and seal installation in the V8 Miata. I plan on doing the Metro sometime (full writeup of course): http://www.lightweightmiata.com/v8/dynamat/ Edited by rmcelwee, Jan 15 2013, 08:41 PM.

![]() I also bought a bat of insulation and stuffed it into garbage bags and stuffed it in all the nooks and crannys. I very meticulously weighed every single item that went into my Metro. After it was all said and done, I added a total of 10lbs in weight to my metro, and IIRC, reduced my sound by almost 30 dB at highway speeds.
