Hello All!

Well, I may be the newest "geek" in my neighborhood, but I feel like I have ARRIVED! :P

On April 5th, I bought a white 92 Geo Metro LSi convertible. Thinking it was just "cute" and "economical", I didn't put much thought into it past that.....for about 12 hours. That night I came home and started looking for misc parts and how-to's and was introduced into the world of the Geo Metro. Now the more I research, the more I love it.

Here's where I am so far.... The top is brand new before I bought it so on that I am good. I stripped out the entire interior, cleaned the FEW rusty spots on the floor pan, and painted that front to trunk. Then, I tossed the old seats and got new seats and seatbelts from a wreacked 97 Geo in like-new condition for $50 a pair. Took me more than a minute to change the pedestal and track hardware out so the new seats would fit onto the old bolt pattern, but well worth the time. Have cleaned all the misc parts and trim pieces. Ordered what I didn't have from various folks online, including from here. The carpet was actually in good shape, so I used a pressure sprayer and then a carpet shampooer, laid it in the sun to dry (which also stiffens it back into it's molded shape some). Right now, I have all the parts spread across my living and dining room. Good thing my lady is so tolerant. :lol

Put one seat back in and the shifter knob, so I could drive it to the shop. :D Had it checked out at the mechanic. Aside from needing two new belts, a front tranny seal (minor leak) and a tune-up, all else it good. Engine sounds amazing for a 20 year old car.

Next stop.... new rims and tires and reinstall the interior and I am off! 55 MPG, HERE I COME!!

:deal

BTW, I paid $1515. Put about $200 in from mechanic and about $300 in tune-up parts and misc interior buys. So, I am right at $2000. Did I do okay? Not sure, but it looks like most convertibles in good shape are worth more than that. Yes?

I have three, just need 1 more. Dumb thing is, someone painted the white one. The other two are alloy color still. I do like the white though, so I just need one more and a new paint coat on them all. If anyone comes across this pattern, hook me up! I can pay.....

That white really does pop, specially with the body color and all ;) Good luck locating that last one.
