Hi All,

Just purchased a 1996 Geo Metro last week, with plans for it to be my main commuter car (about 70 miles daily). No pics handy, but it's relavitely clean and was pretty cheap. It had all the required features I was looking for (1.0L, 5-speed, A/C), although the A/C is not working.

Finally got it smogged today, they had to adjust the timing and reset the crankshaft sensor. Also had them put a new starter in. Still trying to get all the paperwork from the previous owner so I can get it registered. Needs to be cleaned up really well and a few more things fixed (can't downshift to 1st or 2nd, already found info on here for that, and soon the A/C).

I've already found some great information on this site! I'll be posting some questions next, silly stuff like who sells good dash covers (wow these dashes get awful looking!).

Thanks,

Sean.

Go to a local Pick and Pull and get the dash out of a 98+ metro. The plastic in those year models is a lot better and will not fade over the next few years. This would be a better choice than getting the carpet because the dash from a PnP will be less expensive. Here on GMF we like cheap!

Welcome here! :cheers
Here is a side by side of a 1996 dash and a 1999 dash. The plastic was drastically improved when they were badged Chevy's. ^o)

Wow, changing out the dash looks like a heckuva job! It does look beautiful, though. I guess I'll keep what I have for now until I can try to find one at the junk yard.

Thanks!

Sean.
