I purchased a 97 geo metro sedan 1.3 auto with air off of ebay two days ago. Well I flew to Philly, Pa to pick the car up. Guy on ebay said it was rust free and runs great. Well when I get there there are a few problems. First a small nickle size hole in passenger side front frame and rust buble near narrow strip of rear quarter panel. The steering is really hard to turn. I just sold my 97 3/5 and the steering was much easier. The driver side window does not align properly because one corner is off by 1/4 inche and is allowing the air to come in good. The grand finale is: Oil was completely fun when I left 16hrs ago and now there is no oil in the pan. The light started blinking when I hit the brakes. So I checked the dipstick and no oil on it. I look under the car and the hole underneath on passenger side is soaked in oil. I am guessing the crank seal is bad. I replaced one on my 97 3/6 1.0 but never on the 1.3 engine. Is it the same. Can anyone give me some quick and easy instructions/tips. But I did get 38mpg and all three fillups. Probably because barely any oild in engine...less friction. hahah.. Why me? |

It's exactly the same, except there's much less room to maneuver around in there, belt pulley is about 1/8th of an inch from the frame. You'll need to remove the motor mount and lower the engine a bit in order to get the pulleys off. |

Thanks for the info. I was not sure what I had to take loose to get the pulley down far enough to take off. Do you think a jack with a piece of 2x4 on it underneath the oil pan will be enough to support the engine as I lower it and raise it back up when I get done? |

yes lowering it with the floor jack and a 2x4 would be enough to support the engine. Just dont lower it too much, just enough to get the pully off. |
