Honestly it is the only thing wrong with it. I'm not sure I've ever bought a used car or truck that was this clean. We'll hardly get dirty taking the tranny out.

I'm over being freaked and stressed out, I took a good hard look at it with the hammer this AM, and I'm sure when it's done being patched it'll be fine. The rot holes are just starting so there is a lot of solid metal to work with.

I did notice there is a small crack in the windshield.... I want my money back.

I just drove 100 miles on what appears to be a little over a 1/4 tank.
I'll duct tape and glue it together and drive it till it implodes.

It took a 1/4 tank? Ok, you definitely need to drop it off in my driveway, that car is in worse shape than I thought, I can't in good conscience let you drive it for one more second :rofl

Looks about a 1/4 tank or a little more... who can trust a gas gauge.
Anytime I get comfortable with one, I end up walking for gas in the middle of the night.

When I picked it up the needle was a little below the half mark, now its right above the red line but not in the red line. I have no idea how many gallons that is, I dont speak MetroSwift that well yet. I assume that red line from top to bottom is about what, 2 gal left?

My truck would drink about 8 gallons for 100 miles. I really hate that thing.

Typically, just as the needle touches the red line there will be 7-7.5 gallons left. 3.5-3 gallons left, thanks clarkdw Edit: Tank is 10.5 gallons, and reportedly 11 if topped off.

There are some good threads on the gas gauge.

Me thinks BB means about 2-2.5 gallons left. When mine reaches the top of the red I know I can comfortably go another 200km (125 miles)

Running all highway at a reasonable speed I can safely count on 575 miles. I ran it out with a can in the hatch and it went 625 miles. It goes down and stays on the top leg of the E for quite some time. (If you're really brave or stupid) ^o)

I'll just assume when it touches the red I'm out of gas.

Assume nothing :popcorn
Until you get used to your car (and probably never leave home without it), carry at least a 1 gallon gas can in the trunk with gas in it (good for about 40 more miles !!), preferably if you plan to run it below the red line. Here is your new reference picture, look and learn grass hopper ;) Epic post from one of our members, condensed (much like our cars) but I never get tired of sharing it, enjoy -

The needle stops moving before the tank is empty, but it's about halfway between the red and the top of the "E". This car has a gallon left in the tank. I snapped this picture, drove two blocks, and it took 10.2 gallons:

That's probably a good idea until you get ten tanks through it and are sure of what condition the engine (and the whole car) is in. You should be able to get 400 miles out of a tank with no trouble, 450 if everything is working right and you don't mind pushing past the red. But there's no rush in getting there, get to know the car first.

We are getting to know each other.... it's starting to act like a needy girlfriend.
"Honey buy me some new ball joints"
"baby, I need some structural welding done pleeeese"
"Hey soldier boy, me love you long time for a new body brace"

Yeah... we're getting to know each other real well.

I thought thats what I said :lol but I'm telling you, 1 or 2 gallon gas can in the trunk, you'll never have to worry about it ;)

Every time mine asks for something I get out the calculator and start adding up the $250/month in fuel savings over my not so fuel hungry Taurus. It doesn't take long working on that summation before I say "yes dear, whatever you want is ok with me".
