What about the oil filter? I didn't put that on, the previous owner did, I'll be using only the best oil products in this engine that I can find for it |

It's a Fram Oil filter. They suck. No worries, you can always blame everything on previous owners. They suck, also. |

I think you said you got it out but... My father in-laws boats inboard outboard had the same thing happen to him (Mercury 4cyl I think) And I knew exactly what to do from previous experience on cars. Go put a crap load of penetrant oil ( PB BEST - WD if you don't have PB) and just let it soak. Go and buy the largest easyout screw extractor you can find at the hardware store. Put it in the hole finger tight--then tap it gently into the hole with just enough force but don't go crazy. The penetrant oil should have worked it's way in and the light hammering will jostle the threads enough for you to back it out. Trust me when I say that it works like a charm ( Unless you cross threaded that in there--THEN UR F--K-D) Edited by robertino, Nov 25 2012, 02:48 AM.
