Safely, probably half of what the car would carry. Losing roof support in the back, on a car that already flexes a bit.

Well, guess I'm cutting the back of my car off now. That just looks too nice to not do.
One of my ideas was to make a reverse wooden box inside the back the size of your caro hold. Remember loud geos big speaker box? Then you mold it to the hatch opening to make an "insert" or large tub out of wood. Then you coat that in fiber glass. Then pop out the fiber glass insert and take apart your wooden structor. Now you got a tub to make your geo like a truck so you can haul stuff and not effect the interior and even go as far as remove hte hatch vs drive with it open.

I am considering this with my honda. Granted I want to haul over sized stuff, but I also want to haul mulch, rocks, sand, etc and using a large tarp to line the back, then tubs and buckets can be messy at times.

If you want to build a Metro into a truck to haul stuff you'd be better off by ''biting the bullet'' and buying a real truck. Now if you want to build one just for the ''cool factor'' and be different that's a different story.

There was a real nice gen2, 4 door running around Appleton. He took off from a stop light and i never was able to catch him, but the rear doors were filled and it was real sharp. Maas might know it thats his home town.
sure dont think he was worring about mpg.

anyone know the story with these trucks? I emailed the guy a few months back with no reply.

site says that they were for sale at one point, and there are multiples.

Also, they look lengthened to me.

Ok I say what I say but that would be sick... A Insight pickup would be pretty sweet. Didnt GM do that with a silverado??

Ok, since zillaman isnt around i'm gonna jump in and make my own pickup. Time to boldly go where somebodys already been! i have two metro a 96 white one(casper) and a 99 green one(sweet pea).sweet pea needs some rust repair anyway so looks like the pea is going under the knife. I can drive casper while the surgery takes place...... :cheers
