Im wondering what goes in this hole? I included a picture so you could, it is a threaded hole, I think a big allen looking bolt or something goes there???? I have included a couple of pictures, When I took my enigne a part I do not remember taking anything out of there. Thanks.![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us THIS IS AN UP CLOSE PICTURE OF THE HOLE, THE NEXT ONE SHOWS A LITTLE MORE SO YOU CAN GET AN IDEAL OF WHERE THE HOLE IS AT. ![]() By rydholm11211 at 2012-04-29 THANKS I REALLY APRECIATE IT |

It is a hole for a support braket for the power steering pump. Since I doubt many of us GMF members have power steering, don't worry yourself about that hole. If nothing is leaking out of it, just leave it alone. Or it could be a plug for the engine which aloows the oil to drain????????? Freeze plug....Hmmmm, somebody will chime in shortly and correct me, I am certain of that. |

Like I posted in the other thread:![]() Edit: so if you have an Allen head plug lying around after a tear down that's where it goes. Edited by Bad Bent, Apr 29 2012, 03:01 PM.

![]() According to Jittney's diagrams it is item #7 http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/Page_Product/PartDetail.aspx?modelYear=1992&model=Metro&make=Chevrolet&catalogCode=15M&majorIndexID=00&isBigPicture=False&minorIndexID=SU0003001 According to that parts page it is: P/N: **090911 PLUG 3/8-18 DRY SEAL,(AUTO DRAIN,INT SQ,3/8-18X.42 PEOR STL) Years: 89-00 Retail: $4.55 Your price: $3.05 I'd suspect it is a drain for oil judging fro the casting drawing above and it being located below the Oil Check Valve #8. |

It requires a plug for the oil passage. It is the drilling point for the oil port through the block. It is not normal pipe thread if I am not mistaken but is BSPT so either order the plug from GM or find a specialty hydraulics supply that can provide the correct BSP plug. If you do not plug the port the oil pump will empty the sump in short order through the hole. There is another one in the pic at the rear of the block # 7. Edited by clarkdw, Apr 29 2012, 06:34 PM.

If you took the block to a machine shop to have it boiled out they may have taken it out to blow out the oil galleys. Ken.... |

Paul, there are many hydralic hose places in town. Shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully my block will be ready soon.. P.S. you were lucky to have brought your own pistons..
