So after spending all day trying to figure out why my engine had low oil pressure I think I figured it out? But im not sure I know you guys will know. Will I tried my old oil pump to see if that would make a difference, and it didnt so I wasted time doing that So I decided to pull off the oil pan , Well What I discovered was under the oil filter There is a hole that is threaded Well it did not have anything in it that is why I was probally not getting very much oil pressure? Becuase it was all draining back into the oil pans. I have included pictures so you guys see what I mean? If you look at the number 2 cap where one of the bolts is holding the pickup tube, well you will see a large hole there that is threaded but it did not have anything in it. So im pretty sure that is what is giving up the oil pressure. I just need you guys to confirm this so I can put a bolt in it to seal it up. Thanks for all your guys help, Geometroforum is the best!![]() By rydholm11211 at 2012-05-02 RIGHT THERE BELOW THE OIL PICKUP IS WHERE I THINK MY PROBLEM IS? THERE WAS NO BOLT OR NOTHING THERE ![]() By rydholm11211 at 2012-05-02 THIS IS A MORE CLOSER UP SHOT OF THE HOLE? I'm glad you figured it out!! Call tomorrow and have them make it right. Make them give you a restrictor while they are at it. (pre-planing) Paul |

Do not use a bolt in that hole. It is a pipe plug. BSPT (British Standard Pipe Tapered) If you use a bolt you will mess up the threads, the bolt will likely fall out and you will have some serious issues. Order one from GM or get one from an industrial hydraulics supply. |

Of course. Leave out that plug, and no oil pressure. There are 5 oil galley plugs in the block. That is one. There is one on the front, on on the rear, one by the oil pressure sender, and one by the front on the oil filter side. I have the plug you need. Cleaned and ready to install. PM me your address, and I'll put one in the mail, gratis . . . GG |
