Got a 94; Metro

After years and years of owning Ford Taurus's, got me a Metro. I never used to be a fan of these cars before, never really was a fan of anything but a Taurus or Sable, but because of gas prices and my long distance to work, I had to get the most fuel economic car of the 90s. I'm stuck in the 90s, only like 90s cars. My Taurus wagon is an 88 with SHO motor and drivetrain dropped in and my sable wagon is a 95.

I got the 94 cause its the last year of the older body style and best gas milage. Found one with 4 door which I know is rare. Needs paint job, probably a spray paint job. Here's some pics. Thats my Taurus wagon also behind it.

I like it!!!!!!!! Great pics, but what is that tail doing attached to the fuel filler area? Hmmmm, we better investigate further.

Once you paint your new metro, it will be a jewel in you eye. It is a great purchase. Be proud of it because we sure are proud of you for buying it. BTW, how much did you pay for it, how many miles on it, anything sound/running with the engine? 5spd or Auto? A/C?

Welcome to GMF, Chrism, hope you enjoy the best metro website in the world!!!

Welcome chrism3784 :cheers

I also am a Taurus lover. First a 96 inherited from my daughter when she moved to a new car and when that one lost an engine in a LARGE puddle that my GF drove through, a 99 SE that I am in the process of parting with right now :'(

I also commute long distance. (66 miles one way) The Taurus is IMHO one of the finest ever commuters for that run. I got 35 mpg but that just doesn't meet the ultra high standard my 94 hatch meets. 75 mpg IMP 62 mpg U.S is what I am now getting.

You will love the Metro as much as the Taurus. Bet big money on it. :D

Thanks Ya'll. Its of course a manual. Yes does have A/C, but the blower motor is broke. I already have custom wheels ready for it, just waiting on the bulge lugs. Has about 235,000 miles. Bought for $700. Original owners said the motors rebuilt a year ago. I may rebuild it again because of what I heard about the head gasket oil passages. Or at least replace head gasket. Little by little I'm going to make this a nice looking ride.

Welcome to the forum. Your Metro may not be able to out run your SHO, but it can drive much farther on one tank of fuel.

Thats for sure. I'm still on the same tank of gas I put in the day I bought it. All my cars have black rims. I like black rims and two toned with black on the bottom. I'm going to paint the car red on top, black on bottom soon.
