Hello, hello! I've finally decided to step out of the shadows and get involved here as a legit member. I've been lurking for months now as I've sifted through post after post while anticipating purchasing my new-to-me Metro. Well, about a month ago, I finally picked up a 1999 1.0 3cyl and I really, really enjoy the fuel economy I'm getting. Sure beats the hell out of my '02 Jeep Wrangler.

I've at least tripled my gas mileage. I was getting like 14MPG in the Jeep with wide, oversized tires and am now enjoying 47MPG in my little hatchback. I actually cheer a little bit when gas prices go up now because that just means I save that much more. It's counter intuituve, and probably flawed logic, but it's where I'm at lol. I feel like a woman clipping coupons on Sunday..."saving money".

Anyways, I have a lot of work to do on this thing (from my perspective) and will probably be seeking opinions and expert analysis in the very near future.

Current improvements/upgrades (in order of completion)
1. Back seat and back trim removal
2. Spare tire and jack removal
3. Driver/Passenger mirror delete with interior mirror installed
4. Partial grille block

Guaranteed future work (in order of importance/ease of completion)
1. New exhaust line (may have to go from the engine to the muffler...not sure yet)
2. New clutch/rear main seal/transaxle with upgraded gearing
3. XFi camshaft
3. New wheels and tires (some jackass put 17" low-profiles on there. Ughh...at least I can sell them)
4. Dent repair and possible frame reallignment
5. Paint job
6. Vanity Plate

Possible future work (in no particular order)
1. Rear/Front wheel skirts
2. Undercarriage skirt
3. Kammback Tail
4. Flat wheel covers

So yeah...that's me. I'm really happy to finally introduce myself. I actually already feel like I know a couple of you after reading your posts; I'm looking forward to being an active, participating member.

Thank you all in advance for your warm welcome and expert advice. Know it will be appreciated more than I'll probably be able to convey.

Not the best pics...I'll work on that lol. I made the mirror mount covers, grille block, and hood ornament from a black trash can I bought at Wal-Mart. :)
