So I've been doing some visual upgrades to the 96 and one is 17" rims a friend had. They fit good and ride great but 2 miles over on speedo.. They weigh 28 pds with tires. Am I gonna tear up a ton of stuff riding these big rims?

Only 2 miles over? :hmm No sweat! :thumb My 91 is close to 5mph off with my 165R14's. It's me that puts the undo strain on the car. :nfs I say drive it. :drivin And let's see some pictures please. :popcorn

2 miles over at what speed? the speed change is not a direct change it's a percentage change. 2 miles per hour over at 2 miles per hour will translate to 60 miles per hour over at 60 miles per hour. you should be fine, but those are awfully large rims, i hope you have some low pro tires on them.

When speedometer reads 60 mph, actual speed will be 61.9 mph is what he means for the car listed under his name.

So I'm going by my gps.. Looking at speedo and gps its "about" 2 miles over.
I have no computer just iPhone and I can't figure out how to upload pic... I might try to upload YouTube vid n post link
Oh yea so they are wide but the only place they rub right now is on the filler neck guard, might relocate so it can be lowered... Right now tape measure says 9 1/2" to jack point! That's tall only an inch lower than stock ranger in same location.

Good bye

I have 205/50r15s on my 91 and it is a little lower than stock with Swift GT springs. This thing handles like a go-cart, with the 40 series tire watch out for pot holes or you will bend a rim. :(

195/50/15s on dead shocks and possibly springs ... rubs like a b*tch these days. Need to replace shocks and roll fenders.

195/50/15s here as well.

KYB-GR2s with H&R Lowering springs.

My speedo is 10% off to the bad. So if it says 70, i'm actually doing 77, etc...

These are 205/45/17 on a vert to give you an idea. I think the 95+ body style has a little more room than this one for bigger tires.

That's the exact tire size I have on mine (for about another week) and they drive just fine. There is some tire scrape with the wheels cranked all the way over, and the scraping seems more pronounced while in reverse.

Low profiles ride very loud. You might have new rattles in spots if you run high psi, but nothing major in my experence.
