Take a camera and get pictures from ever angle under the hood . Pull the parts you need and take more pictures. You will most likely need every thing under the hood or better yet see if you can buy the whole car. The key can be made at a locksmith by taking them the pass side door lock and reading the code offf of it. Ken..... |

Well, ran into a problem with my swap-over. I halled my convertable to a friends shop a couple weeks ago. Electical short in the shop caused a fire. With oil and such things around, it was quite a blaze! My car and his sebring convertible burned to a crisp. Thank God for insurance! Well, looks like next in line is putting the 1.3 DOHC in my XFi. What car can I get the appropriate wire harness from (inside/out)? Would LOVE to make this work. Also, is there a way to make the rear hatch with the wiper work on my XFi that doesn't have one? Is there a harness connector under the plastic paneling for connecting the wires to? |

Wow, sorry to hear the fire happened ![]() The only person I've seen do the swap is Z34, and I'm pretty sure a lot of his wiring went custom. Maybe he'll chime in here ? |

I wonder if it can be done like what I seen done on an old Chevy truck? Watched a guy gut the wiring harnesses and computer out of a 88 Chevy full size and and strip away all the unnecessary wires and just used what the engine itself needed to run. Computer Throttle body TPS O2 Sensor, etc.. I wonder if this would work? hmmm |

I have a 95 Geo Metro with a 94 Suzuki Swift GTi Engine Swapped... Basically your going to have to go through schematics and carefully plan out the harness, the wiring will need to be combined in order to make a working harness, motor mounts need to be custom aswell and swapping out the braking system is a good idea, any questions message me or i can continue to supply information and support. |

Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

i've done a bunch of twincam swaps. you need the engine bay wiring harness, a snip of the wiring for the coil and ignitor, the ecu, the instrument cluster (4 cylinder calibrated tachometer) the engine and transmission with all the motor mounts, the 2 core radiator with it's fan and shroud, the drive axles, the steering knuckles with hubs, the complete braking system with the front calipers, rotors, hoses, etc. the brake proportioning valve off the firewall, the rear knuckles, hubs, calipers, hoses, and e-brake cables. i would just take the whole rear suspension off the chassis from the rear control arms out. there's a gt only fabric loop on the passenger's side that keeps the e-brake cable from rubbing on the inner tire wall. the front and rear sway bars and the springs are unique to the gt. take those. all of the bodywork will fit your mk3 car if you use the rear bumper support from the mk2 gt, it's lights, and the tail light wiring harnesses. you'll end up splicing their connectors to fit the mk3 wiring. the side skirts will bolt on with some work to locate mounting pins and screws. pop the power mirrors off and take the wiring harness for those from the dash and doors. the mk2 mirror switch won't fit your mk3 dash so keep an eye out for a 96-97 tracker which will have the correct power mirror switch for your mk3 dash. other things that you'd probably want to take off the gt are the splash shields aft of the rear tires between the inner fender and the rear bumper cover. if you want a more complete swap, take the hood, upper bumper cover with grille, the hood latch assembly, and the headlights. you'll also want the headlight bulb connectors as the swift uses a different style lamp. i'd take the wheels and tires, too. the gt swap requires the 14" rims to clear the larger brake calipers. don't forget the rear spoiler, it'll bolt right onto a metro. get the rear window washer parts, too. if your car doesn't have the rear washer/ wiper, you can get the washer fluid bottle with 2 pumps from the gt. things that are even more unique will be like the driver's side windshield wiper arm that has a little aero wing on it. gt only part there. be sure that you get the front seats, if not the whole set of interior panels, from the car. even though the doors' panels changed from mk2 to mk3, you can pop the interior cards off the mk2 upper trim and install it onto the upper trim from your mk3 doors. finally, since the gt donor car is a mk2 and your project car is a mk3, the dash wiring will be of little value to you. i think it's way more work to swap the front chassis wiring harness over than it is to do the splicing of a very few wires to make things work. i've coached a number of guys through the splicing mods to get the gt dohc engine to work. if you get that far into it, i'll help you get things worked out. |

well t3ragtop, it all sounds Very posible with my limited technical knowledge.. BUT, I believe I'm going to have to chicken out.. Its a LOT more than I really was expecting. Unfortunately.. I'll ask my lil brother.. He has a friend that does custom hotrods and such. Maybe he can take it there and do it for me.. |
