Hello!

Just picked up a very clean 91 geo metro lsi convertible for a bargain of 900 dollars. Its a bday/grad gift for my girlfriend (kocampo). Car has been serviced at the shop i work at for many years and is in excellent condition. The previous owner had complaint of high oil consumption of about a quart a week. She wasnt interested of keeping it any longer as she had a brand new miata. Plan is to rebuild the engine with my lady if oil consumption is true.

I did find a clogged pcv valve which i flushed in a bottle of nail polish remover for the time being. Fingers crossed. :D Only complaint is a tiny hole in the exhaust after the cat, and soft shocks. I did find a disconnected sensor on the passenger side of the intake manifold, IAT?

Mike

Welcome to your new forum, mecevans! :coffee

"New" Miatas, we get that a lot around here lately. :lol

Nail polish remover, that's new. For oil consumption check the compression; http://geometroforum.com/topic/2574993/1/

Disconnected sensor in the picture is for Air Conditioning. Mine's red. Monterey Bay... convertible.... forget about it. :lol

Thanks for the pictures. Very pretty car. :thumb

Welcome aboard! Great looking convertible at a very good price. Is it automatic or manual?

Welcome aboard. Did you also clean out the pcv tube? They clog up too.

Its manual. Last service shows a compression test.
1 100 110wet
2 135 150wet
3 100 150wet

Pretty crappy numbers. Time to research parts and suggested engine mods.

For mods I'd suggest anything in my signature below :rocker ... but your GF may prefer a mild economy cam from 3Tech? :) http://geometroforum.com/pages/3Tech Or would she like a nice race header?

Nice plug wires.

What's below and to the left of the hood latch?

Air horn :D.

Anything to improve mpg, fuel econ or power. Seems like most do not machine block or head??

Ah, I speculated as much. :D

"Seems like most do not machine block or head??"

Usually not necessary unless overheated. As you see the engine can be rebuilt without removing it and just honing the cylinders. The G10 and G13s are pretty bulletproof and it's a noninterference engine. :D

Nice. We are going to pull the engine. I want her to know where every bold goes on the thing. :)
