Just for giggles, have you checked to make sure the bulb is firmly connected to the socket?

I think I may have the same sort of problem. My check engine light comes on at high rpm or highway speeds only, and once it comes on it seems to use an insane amount of gas. I jumped the terminals to see the code, but it only reads 12,12,12,12,12 over and over. Never anything else. The weird thing is it comes on, but will not return once the car is restarted until i hit highway speed or high rpms. Sometimes it doesn't do it. Matt... |

Well, if we go back to the #1 post: "Autozone's guage said the aft 02 sensor is the problem. It's the spliced kind and all the connections are good . Didn't drop it . I don't wanna just buy another one and do it again. Anybody got some ideas ? " I'll add my story. My CEL came on on my 1991, The Filthy Beast, and it was the Code 13 for O2 circuit. I cleaned the distributor posts and the code went away and later returned but it would go away at higher rpms. It was the distributor cap. We got the Wife's '96, Goody Two Shoes, and it had the dreaded P0420. I know this because I spent about $30 on an ODBII code reader off eBay. I cleared the codes and about 2 days later it returned. I did it again after cleaning the distributor and plugs. and finally I bought a new catalytic converter and the code went away and did not return. Maybe 4 years later the light comes on. Could be the Cat. could be the sensor. I replaced the sensors, light stays on. The Cat. does not smell or make noise. So I unscrewed the 2nd sensor and plugged the hole with an old sensor. Wrapped the sensor in foil and secured it in the right front bumper area. I'll deal with it when I have do do inspections. If it is off I would not worry about it.

Thanks djangomozart I dined on apple fritters for breakfast and chocolate mint ice cream for lunch. Apples are good for your health. Not sure on the gas mileage lately (with no complete fill-ups) but on long trips usually 55-57 mpg, probably 48-50 around town on E0 with some gas saving techniques and coolant preheating. |

decided I'd make some time and pass 2 cars on the straight-away by dropping it into 3rd and flooring it . Lil 1 litre easily passed 'em on a slight incline. When I checked the speedo after making it past the 2nd car, I was going 65 . I don't know why I threw it into 4th, but 5th came right after. ...... that's when I noticed the light came back on , @#$& . On it came again when I left work, but this morning , no light . Any ideas gear-heads ? |
