HI, Just bought a 1992 Geo Metro from a friend for $800. He seemed to really have no torque at all, took it to the mechanic and he said it was stuck in 3rd gear, some times it would shift find and others not so much. He suspects the TCU is bad and wants $500 to fix it I said Hell no! Any one has any advice on how I should go about fixing this problem. I have an 2008 Accord and a 2007 Acura Tl and I hate to admit it but I love driving my geo metro when it shots well it's sooo much fun! Thanks. |

Post your part number off the tcu and lets see which one you have. Yours should be located under the dash just to the right of the steering column. Heres two differant tcus, ![]() Heres what usually happens to them, post 146 here http://geometroforum.com/topic/4464045/10/ . |

That's cool and thanks a lot! I pulled mine and it's the exact same one with the red sticker. After opening it up it has the same damage on the circuit board just like in the pic you sent. How do I get the parts to repair this or where could I buy one or send it in for repairs? Thanks for the quick responses. |

No parts to fix, too costly to have it repaired if you could even find someone who would. There are people that repair ecms, not sure about tcms, if they would bother. Even if they did, the price would be prohibitive. Only option is the junkyard. Both of these in that picture were junkyard purchases. If it were the black one you needed I would hook you up but I am holding the red one for a spare for one of my cars. Maybe someone else on the forum has one, if not start checking junkyards. |
