I am at my wits end with this 95 suzuki swift and its bad fuel economy, I could use someone who has experience with these cars to lend me a helping hand.

I am getting 22 mpg average in a 5 speed G13 4 cylinder.

I just put a new distributor in it, but after 15 minutes of driving the a/c starts blowing hot.

I cant seem to find a fuel leak although I have never looked for one before.

The muffler essentially doesn't exist, but the rest of the exhaust pipes look good going up to the manifold.

The idle is still weird after installing the new dist. it idles up and down rapidly while moving with the a.c. on while not accelerating.

I only am going to be driving it a bit longer, but the fuel economy is killing me because I am driving 100 miles 3 days a week and average city driving for the rest of the time.

If there is someone around tampa/bradenton/sarasota area that could help me out, I could meet you somewhere.

Thanks for any help, im hoping for the best.

Duct tape heals all wounds

That does seem very weird, even when my car had several fuel line leaks it averaged more than 38 mpg and it is a 4 cyl. You have something else going on :hmm

I am in the Tampa area and would gladly help you. The problem is finding the time. How long have you owned it? What have you done to it since you owned it(ex. tuneup)?

I put a new alternator in it, it leaks oil like a SOB, so thats what im calling the "oil change." I tried putting a new distributor in it, no dice. I have tried disconnecting the IAC, the idle came down but the fuel mileage was still bad.
If the catalytic converter is rusted out and clogged, could that be my issue?

Start with the basics, compression psi ? vacuum ? timing ? Get those numbers first so we can help you better.

If the converter is rusted out, then it should be REAL easy to unclog it. Beat that thing till it's unclogged. Where is it leaking oil from?? That needs to be addressed ASAP! The Idle Air Control is a must, plug it back in, the issue is else where, possibly the clogged cat.
