After months of looking, I finally found and settled on this little beauty: A 1998 Chevy Metro lsi 4dr 5spd w/ air and 182k miles. She has her fair share of issues, some of those issues need more attention than others, but I'm willing. I've driven her for 2 weeks now and I really like this little thing. I can see why there is such a "cult following" behind them.

That's a good engine. 182k is probably pretty worn, but it will last if you treat it right. Welcome!

Runs pretty strong for a 1.3l, does smoke a bit though. Overall I would say that the car is about a 7.5 out of 10.

Say, what part of AL are you from? I am now in NC but grew up in and around Birmingham (Trussville, Centerpoint, Warrior, etc..).

Really Nice Sedan. I remember seeing this on craigslist. I emailed the owner, and I think a small dealer had it. I asked if the price was flexible, but they wouldn't budge. Hope you got it for a good price.

Thanks Guys!

@up5150.. Yep, it was on CL and a lot in Asheville, and I did manage to talk him down a bit. He knew he was asking too much for the car. But I dont think I got hurt too bad on the price. It'll still pay for itself quick enough compared to what I was using (2006 Nissan Frontier 4dr 4wd @ 15mpg) as my DD.

(looking toward the Nov. election to see what happens with the gas prices now) :hmm

Nice car! The 98-01 1.3L all have the common issue of smoke right at cold start-up. Valve stem seals are leaking, no big deal.
