Put a 100 deposit on a 1998 Metro. Going back Tuesday to seal the deal 750.00 total. Its a 1998 Chevy Metro with about 100,000 miles or so. Its black with dark interior. Its a 4 door also.

I noticed it was making a noise under the hood
its eirther the idle pulley or ac clutch

Also noticed ac wasnt too cold
maybe needs a little more freon?

hubcaps are faded and paint could use a good buff all the way around
Its a automatic

Will post pics when I get it home
any tips or suggestions

Welcome aboard. First verify the noise before fixing the A/C

Welcome to your new forum, StackChips1! :coffee

Usually it is suggested that you do a compression check; http://geometroforum.com/topic/2574993/1/

I like to poke around the engine bay with a mechanic's stethoscope to detect noises.

Beyond that I like to change fluids, plugs, cap, rotor, wires and filters on new-to-me cars.

Welcome here :)
What JM and BB said were important, verify what the noise is first before getting it set in your mind. Also make sure it isn't making other noises that your missing because your distracted by this one noise, or miss something else that doesn't make noise at all.

Good luck on your purchase.

Belt.

Verify that by loosening the bolts and pealing the plastic cover on the passenger side of the engine back a little bit to see the belt.

You'll probably want a Field Service Manual. eBay Geo Metro service manual search for maybe $30.

If you remove the A/C belt and the noise is gone, then you know it's the compressor or the idler. To remove belt and tensioner, go under the car and loosen the center bolt on tensioner and on the bottom is the adjuster. Fairly simple :)
