I convert anything that drives to electric, but it just so happens that the metro makes an excellent choice for conversion. There is a lot of hype about hybrids and alternative energy in autos, but it boils down to what we all know on these forums. The metro is the benchmark in fuel economy because its simple design adds up with laws of physics... lightweight, aerodynamic, small motor, and small frontal area. These qualities are exponentially more important in ev's, so the metro is high on my list. I also happen to love metros. As far as battery chemistries, the one that I have been building for so long is lithium ion phosphate, one of the lightest available. It is taking a long time on this build because I am packing 21kwh into the car in such a way that there is no evidence in the interior of a conversion. The only thing that will be looking not original will be digital instrumentation. Windows 7 will replace the obd2, and will be accessible via touchscreen. The floors and chassis are extremely modified and this car has a way lower center of gravity with the load of lithium being the lowest point of the chassis. The new chassis design is also a lot more ridgid, particularly less twisting flex (torsion). Ok, enough for now...
