The hunt begins; Looking for my first Metro

I was looking around online and came across a Geo Metro. I liked how it looked and loved its MPG. I'm going to look at one this weekend, but it needs some work. Hopefully there will be a "new" Metro in the driveway by Saturday afternoon.

Just saying hello, and glad to be a part of this forum and group.

I guess I'm a "youngin" being only 18, but I'm looking forward to this journey and project.

That's what I'm going to look at, any input is greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone is close, and has a better deal I have cash in hand. Thanks!

I would look that car over really good for rust issues. Looks rusty and may have issues. Finding a rust free car is the best route.

I plan on going over it really well for any rust that isn't on the body surface. The selection is not that great in my area so I'm hoping this works out. I've probably read that buyers guide 4 or 5 times and am thinking about printing it out to take with me as a check list. :deal I'll keep this updated and post some pictures if I end up getting it.

By the way, how hard is it to rebuild the 3 cylinder engine? I have no experience rebuilding any kind of engine at all. I would like to think I'm a fast learner and am very patient though. Would it be possible for a complete "noob" to accomplish that? :news

I am the one on the left.

If you have access to tools- it can be done. If you have any friends or family with mechanic know how- it can be easier.

Diving into a complete rebuild as a newbie isn't for the faint of heart. Kudos to you for even considering it. That said- take your time- label everything and read the guides and how to's for the job you are undertaking- you may decide its not right for you.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'll post pictures tomorrow if I end up getting it. I'll be looking for any rust that is under the vehicle. Frame horns I guess they're called. I'll keep it updated. I'm taking my Uncle who is more car savvy than I am.
