Fyi....I fiddled with the tps and it never helped. If I got it to quit surging I got some hiccups when shifting. So far IAC unplugged and tps in original spot seems to run best. |

No worries, it's like you're doing the work for me! So when I take the vacuum off the IAC and plug them I have no surging either, but I think there is a reason for the IAC so I want to fix it, not just bypass it. I've heard that if you don't maintain the IAC one symptom is dim headlights and other issues under electrical load. |

All I did was unplug the electrical connection and mine runs perfectly. All the vacumn lines are still hooked up. I'm gonna get serious about calibrating the tps tomorrow and see if I can get it running right with the plug connected. I will let you know if I succeed or fail. Lol |

YES! I got it fixed!!! Totally surprised when I got it all back together and it worked. I replaced the PCV valve, cleaned the EGR valve, and rotorooted the intakes to the EGR. Followed this thread on the EGR http://geometroforum.com/topic/678529/1/ and pcv valve installation from this youtube vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZbq0YXthB0 which really only showed me the location, but also was good encouragement to do the job But . . . I don't think that either of these things were the actual cause of the problem. Let me explain. After roto rooting the EGR ports I turned the car on to see if I could hear the sucking/puffing that Johnny said I should here. Sounded really bad like and exhaust leak but seemed to be doing the job. But the main thing was that I could hear that surging really soon and really bad. So I thought "oh well" that didn't work. But here's the thing - there was no old EGR gasket. When I put the new one on and everything back together. voilla! It idled so low I thought it was going to stall out. But it didn't. I took it for a test drive, got it nice and hot. Purred like a kitten at every stop sign. NO SURGE, and the idle, like I said is so low I thought it was going to stall. But never did . So I guess it's good. I'm pretty sure it was the missing EGR GASKET that created a vacuum leak and therefore the surge. Snowfish was right. My wife said "you have value to me again" afterward .

Rock on! Glad you got it fixed. I got distracted by something shiny and went to play golf yesterday instead. Lol |
