He all! I'm a newbie to this forum. I've got a 1993 Metro LSi Convertible that has been sitting in the side yard for about five years. Got her started and have been doing some maintenance on her. (New alternator, oil change, new air filter etc.) Long story short, it's time to change the plugs out. Are the spark plugs metric or SAE? Unfortunately, many of my day to day hand tools were swipped when my garage was broken into in our old house a while back and the only spark plug socket I have currently is a small size, believe 5/8". Do I need to get a regular 13/16" spark plug socket or what size? BTW, I hope this is the right place to post my question, if not I'm sorry and a moderator can feel free to move it to the proper place. Thanks in advance!!

Welcome aboard! You are in the right place, the sparkplug socket you need is the larger one 13/16" I believe. Congrats on having a vert - you'll love it! |

Thanks, the car belongs to my wife & mom-in-law. The wife recently started a new job as a traveling hospice nurse and we decided to get the old "purple rollerskate" (my pet name for the car!) going again since she gets paid for mileage reimbursement and our F-150 isn't too bad on gas it doesn't get 35 + mpg. We had another LSi convertible ('91) way back when. They are great little cars and pretty dependable if maintained. Appreciate the info on the plug socket size. It looks like a standard 13/16" plug but it's been so long since I turned a wrench on one I couldn't remember exactly. I'm slowly replacing my stolen tools, and it's annoying not having what I need when I know I DID have it before! Sigh |

Stinks on the missing tools- the 13/16 is correct. Your wife has an incredibly hard job. Hospice workers are angels on earth. |

Yes, it really does stink. I try to be a "forgive and forget" kind of guy, but when little projects come up and I can't complete them in a timely fashion or have a delay because of something or some tool I no longer have in my possession I get fired up all over again! Oh well, such is life. The wife does have a difficult job, but she truly enjoys her work and it gives her great satisfaction. This is what she's wanted to do since her father passed on several years ago. I have great respect for her!
