I have 2 very sweet Metros, a 95 and a 96, both are 3 cyl, 5 spd. hatchbacks. Both are white, have composite headlights, the only real difference is the the 95 has the hatch with defrost and wiper. The 96 only has the defrost. Over the years I have seen several Metros (95and later) with sunroofs. The only one I was able to have a close look at, the sunroof looked like it was oem. Did Geo offer them with sunroofs? I would like to put one in my 95, has anyone done this and do you have any reccomendations on a speciific make of sunroof. I've installed several sunroofs on other vehicals, Toyota truck, Tercel 4wd wagon etc. So I have some idea of what I'm getting into but want to do this right, the 95 is my baby. |

AFAIK, Metros were not offered with sunroofs. There are many aftermarket sunroofs available, usually with the latches in back so you can pop up the roof. Make sure that the latch isn't right by your head. I was looking to buy a Triumph GT-6 (looks like a baby Jaguar XKE) many years ago...someone had installed an aftermarket sunroof. When behind the wheel, my head bumped into the latch. I could see it being very uncomfortable, and could have been deadly in an accident. Now...if I could install a retractable roof similar to what was on my '85 Lincoln Continental, or what I have in the 300SD...that would be cool (but quite an undertaking). Mr. Bill: Does your sunroof has a manufacture name and model number, do you think it would fit on a 95 roof. Are interested in selling it. |

Shoot, I didn't realize that the 3 cyl ever had rear defrost. Or did you mod yours from a Swift? |

I found a hatch that had the rear defrost and wiper at our local Pull & Save, so I grabbed it the switches off the dash and the wireing harness from front to back, also the windshield washer tank (it has two pumps). Then spent the day stripping out my car and installing everything, tedious but not hard. I'm pretty sure it was from another metro but I won't swear to it. |
