oil check valve; oil check valve doesn't fit

I have a 1994 metro 2 door 1liter automatic I removed the head to check the valves and noticed it had no oil check valve. I took the one off my parts car (1993 metro 4 door 5 spd) and realized that it was bigger than the hole in my 94. Can anyone explain, advise, tell me where I can get one if it needs it? Thank you

Far as I know there is no differance. Maybe you had some crud in it. Take some carb cleaner and wash it out good before you install one when you do.

Thanks Blue Rhino just rechecked everything is very clean and the oil check valve is definitely a larger diameter than the hole

It's the same place as the other one. this is the 3rd engine I've had apart, and the other 2 were interchangeable. Has anyone heard of a difference between 2 door engines and 4 door engines? I saw some specs saying the 2 door was 49hp and the 4 door was 55 hp don't know if its true but from what I have read the block is the same from the eighties to the late nineties

Never heard of this. I have a 91 3 cyl automatic 4 door, and my check valve came from a 94+ 3cyl manual 2 door.

XFI was 49 hp and all others 55. Engine blocks are all the same from 89-00.

Maybe someone messed with the block before you had it? Maybe they drilled out the hole?

Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

actually, i have notice some differences in the blocks as i have prepped a few to be turbocharged.

i had a 98 g10 block that had a bigger check valve located in the block at the interface between the deck and the head. then the turbo3 head had the oil feed galley sized for the smaller check valve.

i left both of them out and the highly modified turbo3 engine runs fine (blue monster.)

Thanks for all the replies. I'm putting it back together just the way I found it
