Feeling the shaft buying tires; Shafted is normal for me.

My wifes Jeeps tires lasted close to 70000 miles before having to put a set on after buying it new. We drove that thing all around the United States and the tires lasted forever. Well when they finally wore out, I decided what the heck those lasted so well I will go with the same tire when replacing them. I bought four new tires same as the ones that came new on the Jeep. I have less than 15000 on these jobs and dang if they are not close to wore out! Makes me believe the consumer is getting shafted buying tires from retailers and only the manufacturers are getting the good tires. True or not I dont know. :shit

i found that mastercraft makes a good tire for the price, when i had my buick, i put 4 brand new Nexxen tires on it, and they lasted even way past when i sold the car, the buyer couldnt resist the 3.8 supercharged V6 and ended up burning the tires off the car within months of buying it. lol

Tires shouldn't last that long. But thats a whole new topic.

Does it appear to you that tires that come on cars new last longer than ones you buy at a tire shop? Yes 70000 is a lot of miles for a set of tires but 15000 on the same tires just dont add up.

Well, you should be able to bring them back and get your next set reduced. At least Walmart does it that way. If the tires are rated 50,000 miles, and you only get 25,000 miles before they're bald, we'll give something like 50% off the new tires.

what you should do
is buy tires from America/Discount tire (buy the certs)

and when they are close to worn (hopefully more then one shop is around you)

take a nail and stab it in the side wall of 2 tires take it in to one shop *free tires*

next pair at another *free 4 tires*

my mom always told me that 2 wrongs didn't make a right. :D

if everyone else was jumping off the bridge, would that make you do it?

seriously, no matter what else goes on around you, you still have to deal with the karma that you create.

since i'm an old guy i'd advise you to choose the honorable course of action even if all around you there is evil. as mortal men, we have free will. as mortal men, we have to live and die with our own choices.

Lets see if I got this right.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

A wrong makes a set of 4 new tires.

:hmm

Truth is, I could not afford the free set of 4 for the one wrong. It would cost too dearly, way yonder more than the set of tires would cost.

I never DO wrong, i just think it :D

i like staying legit.

*edit

it was more of a suggestion to those who don't believe in Karma

plus, you paid for the certs, does it say you cant ruin your own tire for a free new one >.<?

One of my first jobs was working at a quick lube place. This place had a undergound pit that had metal sides sticking up you drove over. A guy had just went and bought 4 brand new tires one day and swung by to get his oil changed. Me or someone, cant recall who left a tool laying in front of his tire as he was pulling out of the shop. Punched a hole in his brand new tire. We removed it from the car and took it back to where he bought it. He had just bought the road hazard warranty and he told me not to worry about bitting the cost of replacement, its covered under road hazard.

Isn't there some sort of regular warranty due on those tires due to worn out in low miles? Worn out in 15,000 miles is not good. Pretty sure the tire guy you bought them from may be able to help you with that. Could have been a bad batch of rubber or something. Not your fault, Doc. I'm pleasantly surprised when my tires on the Geo Metro actually exceed the mileage expectations of the manufacturer.
