I am getting a free 96 geo metro hopefully today. The car after it warms up and goes into closed loop starts to idle high. I cant remember if it stays high or it revs up and down. Is this normally a throttle position sensor issue or can something else cause this problem? Thanks |

The TPS is simply a rheostat of sorts. IIRC This is usually a vacuum issue as in vacuum hoses - you should replace all of them - or a gasket leak on the intake side. And if not a vacuum leak the possibly an O2 sensor problem. O2 Sensor testing and Engine Idle Surge Hope that helps. |

I got the car today. It still has the idle issue. I have to get the battery charged to start it on it's own. The brakes are out so moving it is difficult. Will the idle issue throw a code. I have a code reader and a scan tool to read sensor readings. |
