CV half shaft replacement.. how to? OK.. remove the axle nut and swing the suspension end away from the car. Pop the cv out of the trans. Then what? do i need a puller of some sort to get it out of the bearing or will it slide out ok? Time for the big hammer? I dont want to do the job before I have all the stuff needed to do it. |

1) Remove the 32mm nut from the axleshaft. 2) Jack up car, remove wheel. 3) Remove the 14mm pinch bolt for the lower ball joint, and separate the joint. 4) Drain trans, and pop inner CV joint out of trans. 5) Tap the outer end of the axleshaft with a mallet...it will slide out. Sometimes they get a little rust and stick a bit. |

Socket for the axle nut, fresh tranny fluid, big screwdriver, socket set. Fairly easy and straightforward. My axles came out with just me pulling on them. Going in was a little harder, but I got it in by hand without using a lot of force. |

thanks everybody. Replaced the axle in 20 minutes, couldn't have been easier (I guess it helps that i had everything apart when i did my engine a year ago) I now have a car that turns left without any clicking noises or thumps. |

I refilled it with sychromesh. the drivers side seal started leaking bad. So I had to pull that axle and change the seal. Is it that much thinner? Good thing Metros are easy to work on. |
