I am looking at trying to diagnose an issue with a swift. the automatic transmission does not engage in any setting. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and reverse all act as neutral even when manually attempting to switch gears. what are my options in diagnosing the issue here. any help will be appreciated. |

Start with checking the fluid level, after that, drop the pan and inspect for plugged filter or metal in the pan. |

I would bet good money that your countershaft is spinning independently of the reduction driven gear. They are mated with spines and when the splines wear out, the transmission will grind but not go into gear. It is a 30 minute fix once you get the tranny off but you'll have to find a countershaft and final driven gear. |
