Finally got the vert running and now I think the water pump is bad. Today I ran it to work for the first time and it did ok on the way this morning but then got warm on the way. I checked this evening once it cooled off and it was about a gallon low on water. Filled it up and started it and water was dripping off the bottom of the oil pan below the crank pulley. Is this common? Also the timing still seems off just a tick. Very sluggish taking off and got a pretty good knock. I've got the timing turned as far clockwise as it will go. If I go the other way it stalls out. Maybe off a tooth or two? But how do you adjust just a tooth or two? |

You either have a leaking pump or the O-ring on the inlet tube is leaking. Reach down behind the pump where the pipe goes in and see if it's wet there. |

Clockwise and it is not correct. Are you using a timing light to set it? Regardless it does sound like it is off a tooth. You will need to loosen the Alternator, remove the belt, water pump pulley, crank pulley, timing belt cover, align the lower and upper timing marks for reference, loosen the tensioner, remover belt and rotate the cam gear clockwise one tooth. Conversely that rotates the rotor CCW so the Dist. can be rotated back CCW. Might check out Timing Belt Repair and Replace. |
