I have a repair manual, and the torque specs for the rocker shafts says 9 ft/lbs. can that be right? I would think it would be more than that. |

There are 4 bolts across each rocker shaft that go through the shaft. |

Do not torque them to spec, unless you want the bolt to break, and the cam bearing cap to come loose and have a drop in oil pressure and spin a rod bearing. This happened to me on my newly rebuilt engine last fall. When you tighten the acorn nuts at the end of the bolt that hold down the valve cover, the torque goes way up. Now I simply put blue thread locker on them and lightly snug them down. Live and learn (after buying a new crankshaft and bearings). |

im just really confused. my car does not seem to have the things you are describing. it does not have screws that hold the rocker shafts down, it has 4 bolts. it doesnt have any acorn nuts on the rocker cover. it has 4 bolts that hold the cover on. maybe i should post some pix of what im talking about. |

Yes, 9 lbs/ft sounds about right. Doesn't take much. They're all telling about their three cylinders, nothing like your G13BA. |
