I have a 1992 Geo Metro that I really need help with. There is no spark. There isn't a current getting to the coil, meaning that it isn't the distributor,(which I already replaced.) I think it's the Ignitor. Can someone help me with this? |

What did the distributor you put in it come out of? What year? Your car does not have a igniter but is controlled by the cars computer. Just curious how are you verifying you have no spark? |

I bought one at Autozone. I replaced the whole distributor, spark plugs, and wires, until my father told me to see if any voltage was getting to/coming out of the coil. and there was none. I replaced the coil anyways, and i'm still stuck with no spark. If it makes any difference, the car was running great for about the first week I had it, then I put it in reverse one day and it just died. |

Also, I have a black piece with a white connector about the size of my thumb that my father called the ignitor, and I took it to autozone and advance auto, and they couldn't tell me what it even was. Any ideas? I also suspect this is a 1993 engine because the coil pack that was on the car before was one from a 1993. I replaced it with one that looked exactly the same. |

Leave the coil wire plugged to the coil and unplug it from the distributor cap. Using a insulated screwdriver stick it in the coil wire and hold it real close to a ground somewhere on the engine and have someone crank the car over and see if you see a spark jump from the screwdriver to the ground. |

I tried that with my father and there was no spark. Thats why I either thought it was a short, the ignitor, or and ECM problem. |

Pull the oil filler cap off and look at the cam while someone is cranking the car over to see if it is rotating or remove the distributor cap and watch the rotor while someone cranks the car over and see if it is moving. |

Both are moving. Thanks very much for your help, by the way. |

I am a little confused what you have done to it but check all your fuses in the fuse panel under the dash and using a voltmeter check for 12 volts to the coil with the switch on at the black wire with a white stripe. |

All fuses are good. No power is getting to the coil though.

Using a 12 volt test light at the terminals of the wires going into the coil, negative to negative and positive to positive, crank engine and see if the test light flashes. |

Have you done any major engine work recently? Check the ground wire connections on the rear of the intake manifold. Check the negative wire from the coil back to the ecm and the connections at the ecm. |

There has been no major engine work done on the car. I received the car about a month ago. It ran for about a week, and I was pulling out of my yard one day, I put it in reverse, and it shut off. |

I think there may be a short in the electrical wires, because the dash lights faintly stay on even with the key removed from the ignition. |
