I have a 94 Geo Metro 3 cyl. At random times (mostly at stop lights) The car dies and won't start for a day. I performed a compression test and got 111 on cyl 1 112 on cyl 3 and no reading on cyl 2. I don't know how good the compression tool was the hose broke on me and the thing striped cyl 1's spark plug hole. Also the car overheats when going up hills(been like this since I got the car) I replaced the timing belt 2 months ago and ever since then it seems like it hard to start as well. Any one got any ideas.

Get a new tester.

The two numbers are subpar. The zero, is accurate, is well, a zero.

Assuming the best, assuming the tester didn't work, you have 111 on each cylinder. Which is a weak engine. Your timing belt could be off a tooth, making it harder to start.

Most likely, you have a dead cylinder, the motor is about shot, and it needs a full rebuild.

Ok going to rent a new tester. The issue with the car making it hard to start is that the car drags like the battery is dead. Could I have the belt too tight by any chance?

Getting a second opinion, new tester, is a good idea. With those numbers you should have problems running it, 156 being the factory minimum and time for a rebuild.

Have you seen the link: How To: Compression Test.?
