i left the engine in the car... would it stay inside?
You dont know if its there or not. Thats what I asumed when I described what I would do in post #22 above.----I still feel that would be the correct path to follow.

It's possible it wasn't there before your rebuild. Worn out motor maybe had too little power to blow the smoke, and a fresh rebuilt motor needs everything just right in order to not blow?

You did replace your pcv, clean the Ytube, and clean the mounting point for the pcv didn't you?

Prius gremlins snuck into your garage in the middle of the night and stole it so that MPG competition will be reduced.

now the engine is ticking. i noticed when on one delivery the exhaust note changed from a constant burble to more of a put-put-put burble. when i go out with the engine still running you could hear a noticeable tick tick tick tick tick noise that wasn't there before.

also it's still smoking just as bad as yesterday.

Got 70 MPG?

You better check your oil level. You may be low from burning so much oil.
What kind of ticking would you call it? Lifter tick? Rod knock? Or ticking where the belts are at?

ticking like valves tick when a car has gone too long without an oil change.

googled it, it showed a thread mentioning it but nothing that helps me find one :{

is it possible that since i forgot the alignment pins the head gasket isn't aligned properly and is allowing lots of oil to escape into the cylinders?
