How to remove Kilz paint/primer from Metro interior; My car was used by a drywall guy and has some paint inside.

I found some areas where it looks like white Kilz primer has been spilled while cleaning out the inside of my new to me 1994. This car appears to have been used by a drywall worker and was coated with drywall dust and mud splatters. I used a pressure washer and cleaned out the dust and mud quite nicely with Tide and a shop vac to follow up. Unfortunately some of the drywall mud is paint. It isn't in real obvious places but is on the rear hatch carpeting and some of the plastic trim pieces. I think it is that Kilz oil based primer but am not sure. What solvent would remove this without destroying the part I am trying to clean? I know this stuff really adheres to anything to make whatever you want paintable so it won't come off easy.

This looks like a completely different car inside now that I did the cleaning. I am half tempted to leave this paint as is.

Thanks,

Conor

Why you Mutt!

Try some Goo-Gone or Goof-Off.

I had an '85 Lincoln with velour seats some years ago. Helped my wife's brother paint his house one day, apparently sat in some paint then got in the car. Had a big paint splotch on the seat. I used some "Goof-Off" on the paint...removed the paint without damaging the upholstery. If that doesn't work for you, remember: the junkyard is your friend.

And please report back as to what works for you. I just obtained some Suzuki Esteem seats that have some small blotches of what looks like paint.

OK, good results here on cleaning my Suzuki Esteem seats. I used Goof-Off and let it set for awhile, then started scraping with the edge ofa putty knife - not sharp, but a blunt edge. A few cycles of spray, set, scrape and then wiping with a clean white cloth and the paint came off. It takes a little time but works well.

I already do. I have a set in my 93 XFi and will install this set in my 90, but first I need to deal with a slight twist in the driver side seat back.
